EDUCATION:
Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, B.A., 1988, in Paralegal Studies, cum laude. Ms. Canny is a member of Lambda Epsilon Chi (LEX), a national honor society for paralegal studies and was selected as a participant in Presidential Foley Forum for outstanding academic achievement.
EXPERIENCE:
Ms. Canny has been a paralegal for 28 years, primarily in the areas of litigation and bankruptcy. Ms. Canny has considerable experience with large, complex litigation and Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases.
SEMINARS AND PUBLICATIONS:
Ms. Canny has been a presenter on leadership, technology, regulation, and other issues relating to the paralegal profession for a number of years.
COMMUNITY AND CIVIC:
Ms. Canny serves on the Paralegal Advisory Board of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. Ms. Canny served on the Planning Committee for the National Association of Women Judges 26th Annual Conference, which was held in 2004.
PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATIONS:
Ms. Canny currently serves as the Immediate Past President of the Indiana Paralegal Association, having served two terms as President. She previously served as its Secretary, Marketing Director and Primary Representative to the National Federation of Paralegal Associations. Ms. Canny also serves on the Regulation Committee of IPA. Ms. Canny is one of the representatives to the Alliance, a group of all paralegal associations in Indiana that meet regularly to discuss and address issues affecting the paralegal profession. Ms. Canny is currently serving her third term as Vice Chair of the Paralegal Committee of the Indiana State Bar Association. Ms. Canny is also a member of its Ethics Committee. Ms. Canny is a Past Chair of the Paralegal Committee of the Indianapolis Bar Association, and previously served on its Professional Responsibility Committee. Ms. Canny is a member of the Indianapolis Bar Association, Indiana State Bar Association, Indiana Paralegal Association, and the National Federation of Paralegal Associations.
HONORS:
Ms. Canny was the recipient of the Paralegal of the Year award from the Indianapolis Bar Association in 2003 and in 2005.
